The pH Box

Since all aqueous solutions contain water, all aqueous solutions contain both hydronium and hydroxide. If you aren’t sure why, review the information here. And since pH is simply the logarithm of the [H3O+1] and pOH the logarithm of [OH-1], the all solutions have pH and pOH as well. Of course these 4 values are all tied together mathematically. This relationship is easily represented by the “pH Box”

With the tool, you can determine any one of the values if you are given any one of the others.
